FAQ

What is the difference between the Shimano and SRAM versions? - The Shimano-compatible caliper uses mineral oil and has 24mmpistons and seals. The SRAM-compatible caliper uses DOT fluid and has 22mm caliper pistons and seals. Each version uses a thread pitch designed to work with their respective hoses.

Can Formula hoses be used? - No. The SRAM and Shimano calipers must be used with their respective hoses. A flatmount version of the Cura is available that is compatible
with Formula hoses, including our quick-release Speedlock hoses.

Is there a Campagnolo compatible caliper? - The Cura Flatmount caliper with Formula hose kit is compatible with Campagnolo hydraulic shift-brake systems.

What is the bleeding procedure? The Cura Road calipers use the same bleeding procedure as other version of the Cura.

Which brand of mineral oil should be used? For best performance we recommend the use of Formula mineral oil with the Shimano version of the Cura Road caliper. It is possible to use Shimano mineral oil.

Which DOT fluid should be used? - For best performance we recommend the use of Formula DOT 4 fluid with the SRAM version of the Cura Road caliper.

What brand of rotor can be used with the Cura Road? - We recommend using Formula rotors but the calipers are compatible with Shimano and SRAM rotors.

Is there a maximum disc size limit? - Formula does not place a limit on the size of rotor used. Please refer to your frame and fork manufacturer for guidance.

Is there a rider weight limit? - There is no rider weight limit imposed by Formula.
Do the Cura Road calipers use the same brake pads as the Cura? - Yes. This gives riders the choice of organic, sintered and long-life pad compounds
