Darren Hicks claims Gold at Para-cycling Track Worlds
Australian Para-cyclist and TUNE rider, Darren Hicks, has finally claimed the World Title he’s chased for so long now. The 2019 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships took place in the Netherlands in March. Darren qualified second fastest in the C2 Individual Pursuit, less than half a second behind Canadian opponent Tristan Chernove. After feeling like he’d left everything out on the track in qualifying second, it came down to the final. Darren came into the final feeling empty, aiming to simply stick to his schedule for the podium race. Darren did exactly that, rolling over the line in 1st place, claiming his first World Championship stripes after what has been a tumultuous year, both in training and his personal life. “I’m very grateful for all the opportunities I have been given and am glad I could bring home the chocolates for the first time on the big stage!” The team here at EightyOneSpices are incredibly proud of Darren and his achievements! Congratulations, buddy!
