Matt Ackland takes the win: 24 hours solo in the saddle at Dirty Weekend
Adelaide’s Dirty Weekend is one of the premier bike events on the South Australian calendar, but it’s the 24 hour solo category, that has become somewhat famous, or infamous, amongst the endurance athletes of Australia, like EightyOneSpices rider Matt Ackland. So it’s no surprise that when Matt took out 1st place in the 2019 Dirty Weekend up at Fox Creek, it was one to celebrate! Matt had a huge training regime in the lead up, himself conceding that preparation was everything in this race. And setting out on his impressive Niner, laden with Formula, Syntace and Tune parts all over it, at the very least, he knew his bike was going to get him to the finish.
Matt said “24 hour solo racing is a beautiful, painful and rewarding thing that I’d recommend everyone tries if they can.” From the team here at EightyOneSpices, we’d like to congratulate Matt on an impressive and convincing win, in what most find a challenge just to finish!
